With a velvety texture and rich flavor, it’s ideal for warm days or when you want something sweet without turning on the oven. Topped with chocolate shavings, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
★Ingredients
- 1 liter of milk
- 6 tablespoons of sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (optional, for extra firmness)
- 2 packets of vanilla pudding powder (or flan powder, about 100g total)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 200 ml of heavy cream
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
★Instructions
- In a pot, combine the milk, vanilla pudding powder, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Whisk well until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
- Place the pot over medium heat and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble slightly. This may take about 8–10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and add the heavy cream. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into a silicone mold or a round cake mold. Let it cool at room temperature for a few minutes.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set (preferably overnight for best texture).
- Once fully chilled and firm, carefully unmold the flan onto a serving plate.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.
Tip: You can also add crushed biscuits at the bottom before pouring the flan mixture for an extra layer of texture.
