For the Brioche Dough:
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) sugar
- 1 packet (7g) instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup (120ml) warm milk
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
For the Cream Cheese Filling:
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup (50g) sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions:
- Make the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk and eggs, mixing until a dough forms.
- Gradually add butter and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- Beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Assemble the Bread:
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread the cream cheese filling over the center.
- Fold or twist the dough to encase the filling.
- Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top with egg wash.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
