Homemade Sweet Chili Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- 1/2 cup (100g) sugar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2-3 red chili peppers, finely chopped
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Add minced garlic, chopped chili peppers, and grated ginger. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl, then slowly add to the saucepan while stirring.
- Continue stirring until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let it cool. Transfer to a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
