Homemade Sweet Chili Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (100g) sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-3 red chili peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add minced garlic, chopped chili peppers, and grated ginger. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl, then slowly add to the saucepan while stirring.
  4. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool. Transfer to a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
