Glazed Apple Tart Recipe
Ingredients:
For the crust:
- 1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (115g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3–4 tbsp cold water
For the filling:
- 4–5 apples, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
For the glaze:
- 1/4 cup apricot jam or apple jelly
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions:
- Make the crust:
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Add cold water one tablespoon at a time until the dough holds together. Press into a tart pan and chill for 30 minutes. - Prepare the filling:
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped apples, brown and granulated sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cook until the apples soften and caramelize (about 10–12 minutes). Stir in vanilla and cornstarch if using. Let cool slightly. - Assemble the tart:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Fill the chilled crust with the apple mixture and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly. - Make the glaze:
Heat the jam or jelly with water until melted and smooth. Brush over the tart while it’s still warm for a glossy finish. - Cool and serve:
Let the tart cool completely before slicing. Enjoy on its own or with vanilla ice cream!
