No-Oven Stovetop Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (or water)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for dough) + extra for cooking
  • 1 teaspoon yeast (optional, for a fluffier texture)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the dry ingredients – In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar (if using).
  2. Add wet ingredients – Gradually add warm milk (or water) and melted butter while mixing. If using yeast, let it activate in the warm milk for 5 minutes before adding.
  3. Knead the dough – Knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft and smooth. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes if using yeast.
  4. Shape the dough – Flatten and shape the dough into a round disc, slightly thicker in the middle.
  5. Cook on the stovetop – Heat a pan on low-medium heat and grease it lightly with butter. Place the dough in the pan, cover with a lid, and cook for about 10-15 minutes on one side.
  6. Flip and cook – Flip the bread and cook for another 10-15 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked inside.
  7. Serve – Remove from heat, spread some butter on top, and serve warm.
